Clearing out

I've been going through a handful of things that still sit in the attic of the house here. Some of it was outdated, no longer relevant etcetera. Net result was 6 boxes of old paper. Now, it was not all due to my clearing out, my dad had to do the same. And when you get newspapers delivered every day, it does mount up.

Local church has a shipping container and every other Saturday, you can leave your old paper there. Off we went, with a big, heavy box on the bike panniers, to the church, three times over, to dump our paper.

The container will be taken away and emptied at a recycling plant, which will pay the church a small amount per kilogram. Think it's a couple of cents. However, by the time we had delivered the last boxes, the thing was pretty much full.

Otherwise a nice sunny day, quite breezy, and the clouds in the sky warning of immanent change. Thunderstorms will move up from the south through tomorrow.

It's a lot to go through our old items and determine what is and isn't important any longer.  Good that you recycle!

that was good to help the local church, even if it was just a little bit, and also to clear some not needed items out

I hope your day goes as well as it can, Guido

I agree with Jan; phew!  I would have had to load it into my car and deliver it that way.  Of course I'm not very close to any churches. But it does feel good to get things cleared out.  I once had an accumulation of about 15 years of pay stubs from the hospital (can't tell you why I saved them). That's when I went out and bought a shredder & shredded all of them. As I remember it took several days of on & off shredding. It's sunny here this morning too, but I think it's a trick to get people out of their homes and off doing outdoor activites on this long Memorial Day weekend.     By Sunday or Monday it will be raining again, I'm sure. Good for you and your Dad recycling. Bet that was a job using bikes to hawl it away. I need a major cleanup here. No newspapers though since I started doing the local paper online. Helen

You have my sympathy having a clear out.  I have been doing the same in my room for the last two weeks. It's amazing what you collect over the years.
I didn't have to take my stuff anywhere though, it was collected from the door.  I think it's a good idea though for the church to get something for it though.
Hope the thunderstorms miss you.
Take care

Oh i think thats a wondeful idea that a local concern can benefit from the recyling. Our local council takes away the recycling but i think yours sounds like a much nicer idea.
