The Shell Gallery
This is the archive of The Shell Gallery blog, which was active between 2008 and 2018. It is dedicated to the memory of my mother, who died in May 2008, and to that of my father, who passed away in August 2022. 
The Watch Tower stands to the north, overlooking the open Heathlands
The Shell Gallery also refers to the island of Vlieland, which has zillions of shells on its beaches.

Great photo's as always i liked the one of the tower very interesting view of it !! also the wee caterpillars...I havn't seem any about here this year...but enough snails and slugs to feed all the population f France !! I am thinking of going nto the export business !!Love Sybil xx
I have got to do some catching up! I usually read your entries if I don't read anyone elses. I love seeing photos of places I have never been before.

I get a lot of my feelings for European places of interest from books. For example I read a book about England called I believe Saran something all about the building of one of the massive cathedrals. I was quite enthralled with it, and know if I saw that cathedral it would mean a good deal more to me from having read this historical novel. Similarly these photos of churches, houses, and walks into the green hinterlands evoke similar feelings from having read about such places in so many books. Strange how that transferance happens. I wonder if you traveled to the wild west you would have similar emotions on seeing Tombstone, Arizona, the Grand Canyon, etc. It seems quite possible. Gerry
